This was fun, it just seemed everything moved really fast. And while I could understand those closest to Mel being involved in her love life, it got weird that just about everyone she knew, seemed to be in her personal business. I know I’ll continue with the series, I just hope it picks up a little.

I don't know how else to put it, but despite a lot of happenings in the book, it didn't feel like it had much of a plot this time around.
A lot of things happened to the main character, but very few things she made happen herself. That made it feel lackluster compared to the first novel.

SpoilerAnd I know the whole 'sleeping with Joe' thing was supposed to be a running joke for this book, I did find Mel to be quite an inconsiderate--- over it. Not to mention that there was an identical scene near back-to-back. (Sleep, reposition Joe, arms around her, wake up with coffee next to her head) That couldn't have been my imagination. Error in editing?

3.25 stars really. I think I liked this book even more than the first in the series. Very funny in spots.

3.5 stars - I really enjoy the main characters. They are totally hilarious and wildly independent.

I listened to Buttercream Bump Off (Cupcake Bakery Mystery 2), written by Jenn McKinlay and narrated by  Susan Boyce. It takes place around Valentine's Day, so the timing was perfect. The narration for this didn't resonate with me, but I liked the story. I think I may have to give this one another try at some point, but next time I'll read it instead of listening to it. I also want to read the next book in the series.

Very boring and unrealistic. The narrator didn't help with not pronouncing the s at the end of words, very irritating. And what's with the
pressure of Mel to sleep with Joe? One, it's no one's business, and two, a relationship isn't less real if they didn't sleep with each other

I enjoyed this one just as much as the first. Super quick and light and who doesn't love a good bakery cozy mystery?

I have one complaint. The three best friends like to quote old movies quotes to each other, which is actually pretty funny. But every single time it happens, one of the other friends will name the movie, immediately followed by 'Angie said, identifying the movie.' IDENTIFYING THE MOVIE. EVERY OTHER PAGE SOMEONE WAS 'IDENTIFYING THE MOVIE'. Like we get it, we're in on the joke. You can stop explaining.

Small complaint but by the fourth time I was rolling my eyes. I am looking forward to book #3 though.
