Not sure how to feel about the ending. I feel like I still have so many questions. This book was different from the others in the it really focused on one character and one location as opposed to jumping around, so much so that I completely forgot about a group of characters they introduced at the beginning. I also feel like we didn’t get to explore Scytale’s character enough either. A lot of things were set up but then were either brushed over/resolved quickly or never went anywhere.

Chapterhouse dune feels very different but still like a proper Dune book. I felt like nothing was happening and at the same time as if I was bombarded by concepts, ideas and quotes. There is a lot to like and a lot feels unnecessary or disjointed. Overall I still enjoyed it a lot. Check out our discussion about on on ep.68 of the Mind Duck Books podcast: https://bit.ly/44hLdX6

I can't believe it's over. What an incredible series - one that will stay with me for years to come. Frank Herbert, you are a master.

I found the scene (did not finish this scene) where they tried to use sex to bring back the memories of Bashar Teg absolutely abhorrent. I understand he had been an adult before, but he was still only 10. And I cannot overlook that. I could not sit through the rape of a child, not even a fictional one.

A good book, but not my favorite in the Dune saga. I felt lost at points, and Herbert let so many important moments and details happen off of the pages. I wanted more than I got. Overall, though, it feels amazing to have finished the final installment of Frank’s written Dune stories.
