Loved it, as always. Can not wait for Dash's book and Cannon's that will follow it. I think we all know who will be Dash's leading Lady and I for one, think it's going to be, not only an interesting match, but a good read too! :)
So I'll admit that I've wanted to see Rowdy and Avery since they were first introduced (even if I got the intros in reverse order by starting this series with book 2), and I did like this, but at the same time, there were a few things that I just couldn't get behind.
I didn't really like Avery walking in on Rowdy at the beginning and then both of them basically brushing it off. That's just...I don't know but I guess that part really made me roll my eyes. Granted, there wasn't any attempt to paint Rowdy as monk so hooking up was par for the course for him, but I feel like the fact that she caught him at the bar was just not right. I also didn't like the fact that both Avery and Rowdy (for two people who seemed to be at least semi intelligent) jumped to conclusions every time something was said/not said/look was exchanged. Like, Avery spent so much time telling herself she loved Rowdy but she wasn't going to ask for anything because she knew (thought) he didn't want anything and would never settle down. But the second it appeared he was going to do just that, she'd get upset about it. Same for Rowdy although given his history, I could see it. However, half the problems with that could have been solved if the two of them would have sat down and actually talked about this.
I will admit that I liked getting to see more of Rowdy though. It's been clear in the previous books that while he doesn't necessarily trust the law, he always wants to do what's right. Well, to his mind. Granted, sometimes the methods may leave something to be desired, but he never seems to go after someone who doesn't deserve it. I did find myself laughing a little at the fact that both Reese and Logan had to tell him not to do something his way because they knew what he was thinking. I also kind of loved the way he was with Marcus. He knew that they just had to take things slow but he always did his best to assure Marcus that everything was going to be okay and he'd be there, even if he wasn't able to stop in every day. As much as I loved his protective side, I did kind of roll my eyes at how caveman-esque he became when Pepper mentioned wanting to help out at the bar. Granted, he wasn't all that okay with Avery there (although I think that was more due to worry over the Fisher thing) but at the same time, he didn't seem to have a problem with Ella working there.
Avery was decent but I also kind of wanted to shake her a couple of times. Most of it would be the times when she'd get upset over him being himself. And half of that, she was jumping to conclusions she had no reason to jump to. Again, yes, there wasn't really ever any attempt to show Rowdy as anything less than kind of a manwhore, but maybe she should bother to get names before being dunked in jealousy? The Peterson thing, I could see considering how she showed up and basically attempted to suction herself to Rowdy, but the Pepper and Alice introductions? Like, just...really? I did like how she was with Marcus and how she seemed to understand Rowdy (aside from when she was jumping to unnecessary conclusions).

Getting Rowdy begins with Avery being the new bartender at a bar that now has a new owner. Rowdy is that new owner. He's the man she's been trying to resist because she doesn't want to be just a notch in his bedpost. But as they spend more time together she feels she won't be able to resist him any longer. And now that they've actually gotten closer as friends she thinks it is time to finally spend that fatal night with him. Avery knows that Rowdy is a one night stand type of man, but she can't help the way she feels. And now that they've figured out there is a threat to Avery Rowdy insists on her staying with him. Rowdy knows Avery is in danger, and now that she's staying with him he can't seem to get enough of her. And for him its more than just sex, he actually cares about her. But since he has now idea how to deal with that he sort of just ignores it for the most part. These two have a lot to go through, but they make it out in the end! With a beautiful HEA!
At first Rowdy sort of frustrated me with the way he treated Avery. But later on I warmed up to him, and eventually really liked him. I really enjoyed this book. It was very nice to get to see Rowdy find someone that loves him. And I admired Avery for all she did for Rowdy. She wasn't afraid to admit her feelings early on, even knowing that he didn't feel the same, and could have pushed her away from him for good. Avery was pretty awesome in my opinion. And now I look forward to the next book in this series. I also have to say that I love how the author uses the name of the characters in her titles of books. I haven't seen very man authors who do that, and I really like it.

The suspense is not as tight as some of Foster's books, but the characters and their motivations are well done.

REVIEW:
Why oh why have I waited so long to read a romance novel by Lori Foster! I have majorly been missing out and am so happy now that I have been introduced to her writing and steamy romance. Getting Rowdy is the third book in the Love Undercover series and boy is it hot. But not only that the plot is thrilling, with twist from each of the protagonist background, they both have really deep stories that make you feel for both of them. This can be read as a stand-alone, but after reading about the two previous couple in this book I want to see how they met and can’t wait to read their stories.
Getting Rowdy follows Rowdy Yates, a man who not only is attractive and tough, but never says no to the women who want him. But the one woman who he actually wants is always saying no to him. Rowdy knows Avery is not like any girl he’s met, she has something she hiding and he isn’t much different from her when it comes to secrets. Together they try to knock down the walls that they have been hiding behind, as well as fight the past dangers that seem to have finally caught up with them.
Rowdy is one smoking hot man, who has a very cocky attitude and bluntly says what he wants without shame. I loved his care free attitude even though his mouth got him in trouble a couple times, even when he didn’t mean for it too. Though he seems like a player, he has a pretty scarred past that has damaged him. Inside he’s a loving and protective man who cares a lot for family and for the people who work at his bar. I liked that he wasn’t perfect, that his flaws added to his charismatic personality and it made him real. His connection with Avery is deep and he tries to fight his instincts but knows that she is someone he needs, and actually wants him for the right reasons.
Avery is a sweet and caring young woman, who can be tough and smart mouthed when needed. She has dealt with a lot of scars like Rowdy, her family life was “ideal” for most but no one knew what really went on in her pampered life. She has a hard time opening up and Rowdy seems to be the one person who she may be able to talk too. I loved how together they found that missing piece and seemed to understand that they can be happy.
Overall, even though the plot is predictable because it’s a romance story, I felt the background for both Avery and Rowdy were deep and seriously made me as the reader care for them so much more. I also liked how even though I didn’t know the characters stories from the previous books, I was able to connect to them and enjoyed their time with Avery and Rowdy. If you’re looking for a hot romance with a solid plot that is full of suspense then this is the book for you. Lori Foster no doubt will entice you with her steamy writing but also with her memorable characters.
RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult novel that is suitable for a mature audience due to its sexual content. Fans of Beautiful Disaster by Jaime McGuire and Reunited in Danger by Joya Fields will enjoy Getting Rowdy by Loir Foster.

I liked the idea of Rowdy. I didn't mind him in the first book... but I spent the whole of the second one pre-empting him shagging someone who wasn't Avery. Now, I get that there was no commitment... but, personally speaking, it wouldn't make me feel particularly wanted/loved/special to watch my would-be picking up another woman... or getting a blow job. He likes variety... he stated that. Avery ( who could be irritating... ) should've told him to get lost... but maybe he should visit a health centre en-route...
See, the thing is... if that scene hadn't happened early on I probably would've really liked this one. I don't like reading about sex with women/men/aliens/whatever if it isn't the ones who are going to end up getting their HEA.

I'm so glad that Rowdy got his own book. I was really looking forward to this one and I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely loved Rowdy and thought he and Avery were great together. It was fun watching the perpetual bachelor fall for one woman. I also love that you get little glimpses of the other couples and get views of the people of future books. I was really intrigued by Cannon and can't wait for his story. I also loved Marcus and the ways that everyone interacted with him. Rowdy was just so great with him that it made me love him that much more. I loved that with Lori Foster books even when you think you know where a story is going, she goes and throws something into the plot that I wasn't expecting at all and it makes her books so much more interesting. Can't get enough of Lori Fosters' great characters!
I read this book. That's about the only good thing I can say about it. I can't remember exactly why I wanted to read this book, but I was pretty disappointed.
It started out okay. I liked that Avery wanted to handle her own business and didn't want Rowdy butting in. However, a little over halfway through the book all of a sudden it seems like she's letting Rowdy dictate parts of her life. Occasionally she stands up to him, but for the most part she goes along with what he wants. Its like the author forgot how she had set up the character. Also, the ending. What the hell? It was as if Foster suddenly remembered that she had to end the book so just decided to use the random crazy person trope.
Either way. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. Unless they specifically said the like overbearing "Alpha" male types and female characters who to a personality 180 halfway through the book.

Another great offering from Lori Foster.
Foster continues to write great Alpha men and strong, capable female characters.
The plot had some great twists and turns and the end was nice and surprising, without being out of the blue.
A good read.
