I tried. I tried 3 times. I restarted this book 3 times to give it a true and honest try - and because I KEPT DNFing, I’d forget everything that happened and start all over and I just could never get past the slow pace, writing style and modern colloquialisms.

I absolutely loved this book. So much character development from Poppy. I want more fighting scenes of her kicking ass. I had a feeling she was more powerful than people thought. I knew that blood tree back before was from her for some reason. I know its Alastair thats betraying them its so obvious how else would that kid get her into a trap and then everyone knew who she is as soon as they get to Alantia not weird at all hmmm. Anyways cant wait to read the rest recommend 100%

Started out a little slow and annoying with Poppy's continued rejections but about halfway through it picked up. Poppy and Casteel are so well suited to each other. Filled with romance and action (and some truly delicious scenes). Triggers: violence, torture, and references to sexual assault. Can't wait to continue!

The second time, I really enjoyed this more. I love Casteel! I love his personality and cheeky little responses. I thought the escalation of events and evolution of the relationship was wonderful. The ending was such a "woohoo" moment that I can't wait to see where this goes.

Holy crap. I loved the first book but this second one was so much better!! I love Cas, I love Poppy, I love their banter! God it took them so bloody long to admit their love for one another! And that ending!!!! I bloody knew she wasn’t just half Atlantian! I can’t wait for the next one!
