Unsure what I was thinking… lost me at sex transmutations then also lost me again at the imaginary conferences with Henry Ford and Copernicus?
I think as a basic overview the message is a good one. A lot of it revolving around the idea of “thinking and desiring something so much it’ll happen” - modern day ‘manifesting’.
But a few of the examples seem to be a bit much - the edition I read discussed the father who had a son born without the ability to hear. He went on to describe how they refused to acknowledge this and didn’t allow the child to receive aid to their disability and forced them to ‘adapt’ to be a “normal” person.
I found that description and some others along the same lines quite tasteless. That being said I didn’t really experience any brilliant ‘A-ha!’ type moments where I would find them convenient in everyday life. Sure, I can desire something and plan to make every change necessary to make it happen. But just because I aspire to make millions doesn’t mean it will magically be handed to me because someone sees me with this burning desire. If that were the case we’d be seeing a lot of people randomly coming into wealth because they desire so strongly to get out of financial stresses.

I originally bought this on audiobook but liked it so much that I bought a paperback copy. A great classic that reminds me of, How to Win Friends and Influence People but for the business side.

This may well end up being my Worst Read of the Year. I can't believe this book is still thought of as relevant, there are thousands of self-help and personal finance books that have been published since Think and Grow Rich was published in 1937. There wasn't even that much sound financial advice, it was more "woo woo" for finance bros. And the whole chapter on "Sex Transmutation" made me want to barf. If you're considering reading this book, I can give you 10 better, more practical recommendations. This is a solid waste of time.

It is proposed that ALL personal development literature can be boiled down to the 12 basic messages within this book.
A dated book that cannot be appreciated without first developing context for the Author and a hexis and habitus for what life would be like for ANYONE who came across this manual in the time it was written.
You probably wont be able to handle this instruction manual if you dont follow the exact instructions. If you think this book has anything to do with money you completely missed the point. As the author states you do not need to read this entire book, the second it “clicks” you will know what to do.
