I think I liked the concept of this book much more than I did it's execution. Some strong ideas, but the ending felt rushed and it left too much unexplored.

Interesting idea, of a world grief is forbidden, but it left me wanted more. I wanted revolution. The story seemed to drag, and the ending fell flat for me.

4.5 - I love an interesting dystopian thriller book with a clever concept that makes you think and this hits the spot! This is a great read - it’s quite bleak and uncomfortable with lots of room given to the reader to interpret and perceive aspects of the ‘society’ in the book. As a concept it was very clever and I’ve have read nothing similar before. The reason I gave 4 stars is that I felt the book could have done with being a tiny bit longer just to explain a couple of bits that I felt were touched and then left particularly the main characters back story - but again I feel this could have been purposely done by the author due to the subject matter of the book itself. Will certainly be reading anything else this author brings out, she has an exciting writing style and concepts that are very unique.

The premise of the book was interesting but I don’t think it was explained in depth. I wanted more of a revolution against the system. Or even more of an explanation about how the system was put in place and why

An eerie dystopian novel where grief is forbidden. This was an interesting read, I felt the exploration of mental health and suicide was well done. There are some gore elements to add a horror vibe and some creepy settings. There were 1984 and Never Let Me Go vibes as well as Shutter Island. There are some twists and turns as we follow Dev in this fictional world. Dev as a main character was likeable and I felt for him having to live this nightmare reality.
