It was a really interesting look at a different kind of society. More goes into great depth, making Utopia seem very real to the readers. It's hard to determine whether you should believe Raphael, the main narrator that is telling the story of this foreign land, or approach his description with skepticism. Overall, it makes you really think a lot about the different ideas of political and social structure and what would work best comparing theory and actual execution. Really interesting and thought provoking.

Utopia: Or, Actually No, not Utopia
Maybe back in the 1500s this made sense and seemed like an ideal society, but by 2021's standards, it is not...great. I found the book's structure at least interesting, but the descriptions of what Thomas More considered to be a "utopian" society seemed sort of like communism but also just not great? It's pretty interesting to think of how he came out with this book in the past when monarchies were the way of the land. The kings and queens probably didn't like that shit.
All of this is to say, this probably was interesting back then, but at this time, it's lost all relevance. Soooo yeah, was a bit of a head scratcher.

Okay, this isn't an entertaining book. If you decide to read it searching for fun you will NOT get it.
Besides that it's an amazing book and it's incredible to think about those ideas and people reading it in the 16th century (right, most of the people couldn't read or had any access to literature but still...).
I'll definitely buy a physical copy of this book someday.
