The first half of this book was a solid 4 stars but the twists and impeccable character growth in the second half rocketed it into 5 star territory. I must conclude this is a masterpiece!

This story unspooled like a Ghibli film in all the best ways. The world building, the stakes, the characters (move over Calcifer, Geiki is my new favorite adorably loud sometimes dubiously helpful spirit friendo), the friendships and heart.

I’m a sucker for a good “believe in your own power, even if it seems small” epic and this hit the spot perfectly.
