A fun and funny adventure with a supportable main character and complex plot. I've seen some complaints about the second half of the book, which I think is mainly because this story isn't written with a Western story structure, and as a result it may feel meandering when it doesn't follow the expected formula. I felt this way before catching on and after that was able to enjoy the unpredictable plot more.

4.5 stars! what a fun adventure this book was — it gave me the same whimsical feeling of spirited away and my neighbor totoro. things i loved: miuko is a loud ass bitch like me, there’s a little bird bestie that’s cocky and annoying but hilarious, found family, a kind father, and a chaotic, relentless plot. adore it! recommend it to anybody looking for a light good time!
