Having high expectations of a series and a book is always tricky. The higher the expectations, the bigger the chance that a book or series is eventually NOT the perfect book you were looking for. It's partly why I didn't read this series for such a long time. It felt like this was IT, the Reverse Harem book everyone had to read. However, when I asked for emotional reads with a sweet guy in the harem and a strong plot this series was recommended to me.

I absolutely understand where the readers who recommended me this series come from. The series has a great cast of characters with a type of guy for every reader. So yes, the sweet and nerdy guy I was asking for was totally in there. The series also has a rollercoaster of a plot with an epic battle waiting at the end of the last book. However, although there are a lot of emotional things happening I had issues actually feeling them.

And in this book the feeling part was even less prominent than in the previous books. It's hard to pinpoint why I didn't really enjoy the finale that much. I think it's partly because it feels like some scenes get clearly more attention than others and at times part of the plot felt a little rushed. Especially the search for the three other parts of the necklace went incredibly fast even though the tasks to get them weren't easy and therefore a lot was happening.

I also somehow felt that the emotional impact of everything that has happened, everything the characters have done and everything that brought them here is slightly forgotten. I understand that other people prefer their books like this, but I read to feel. I read to cry. I read to laugh. I read to fall in love and for some reason that never really happened during the series. Maybe our heroine is a tad too strong for that.

However, if you're searching for an action-packed series with a harem with different types of guys, a strong heroine and a lot of twists and turns: this is totally your series!

rating: 3.5ish?

The Alpha's Pack was an okay book. Better than the last one.. but still disappointed me a bit? I guess I had high expectations about what was going to go down between Kit and her mom. So, now I know better than to assume things. I did, however, like Bridget's punishment.. but really wanted her to go buh-bye.

Other than all of that, the smut was all up in my face. I loved every second of it because it made her and the guys closer. Which means the bond was getting stronger and again, I'm alllll for that. Speaking of the guys, it was interesting to see River's beast - even though he was gross sometimes. Then it was highly entertaining to see Wes come out of his sexual shell. I'm proud of you buddy - you did good kid!

That being said, it doesn't really feel like this series really came to an end. I don't know what it is but I wanted more from the epilogue - a lot more. It was cute, don't get me wrong, but ugh.. my little heart wanted more. That's it - plain and simple. I guess I'll live.

there’s still an extra book but let’s say that this is an official last one. i liked the begging of the series but somewhere in the middle fmc turned into an annoying whiny girl whose only personality trait was loving coffee (it was mentioned in every chapter).

didn’t understand what kit tried to achieve by separating from most of her guardians and leaving with the most unhinged one.. i was furious with her on their behalf. also when they finally reunited, the boys said nothing about her leaving them, just completely brushed it off - the fuck??
