This might be one of the most beautiful depictions of pure love I’ve ever read! It’s so beautifully poetically written and I adore it

It’s one thing to be looked at, and another to be seen. It’s one thing to be looked at, and another to be seen. It’s one thing to be looked at, and another to be seen.

Read this one on a recommendation!

Caleb Azumah Nelson is a poetic writer with a very abstract vision in his writing style so it felt difficult to get into this one. But once you get through the style and come to understand it a little more, it's really quite beautiful.

The narrative is peppered with so many Black artists and art forms, referencing areas in and around London to engross you in the story. The writing itself is entirely sensual, and focuses particularly on image and sight, even in moments of distress. It can be difficult to read (not for the writing itself, but for its content). What begins as a pretty love story ultimately becomes - in the words of Yaa Gyasi - 'A love song to Black art and thought'.
