I enjoyed this book. There were some areas where the book was clearly not proof-read closely (weird paragraphs, wrong names being used, etc) but it didn’t pull me away from the story. There is a lot going on but I did really enjoy it overall.

A very generous 4 stars, more like 3.25 if I’m being honest. The story is very cute and I love the characters, especially little Patrick! My issue has nothing to do with the imagination of the world and the story - I really enjoyed it! But it is written so poorly (gross sentence structure, over use of punctuation, run-ons, typos, etc etc) and I cannot believe the lack of editing and attention to detail (the wrong characters names showed up at times!); typically I’m not so critical when it comes to punctuation and sentence structure and grammar because this is fiction after all, it’s meant to be enjoyed not analyzed - but when it gets in the way of the flow of the story and doesn’t communicate it’s ideas effectively, that’s when I have a problem. I’d recommend the book for the cute story, but only if you know you can stomach all the mistakes and are okay with re-reading passages for clarity sometimes. The editors really did this author a disservice.
