She lost me with this one sadly.
Book one was fast-paced and the plot was interesting! Four stars! I also liked the angst between Dominic and Sienna but one of my main issues with book 1 was that Dominic felt useless. And that was fine for a while but by the end of the book, that uselessness and "I can't really help because of xyz..." was annoying.
I went into book 2 thinking that plotline for Dominic's uselessness, would be wrapped up and maybe a new villain would be introduced to eliminate Dominic's damsel in distress persona. It didn't. The introduction of new characters actually made Dominic weaker than he was in book 1. Dominic was reduced to no backbone whatsoever and all talk. It was so disappointing because the words never matched his actions. And again, I guess I assumed that with the introduction of new characters, the plotlines with his brothers would be wrapped up, Dominic would find some semblance of power, and the new characters would create a new challenge for him where he could show readers exactly how he became this infamous general through his actions and strategy. And after he was f***ed in his own prison cell - Sienna walked out with more power than he ever had.
