I liked it, but also didn’t at the same time. The reading was enjoyable and there were pretty unique choices and was a different writing style. But something felt like it was missing and the whole time I felt like I was missing something. At least until the last 50 pages

This is not the first time travel book I have read and not even the only one with this premise. A civil servant (we never find out her name is assigned as a "bridge" to Commander Graham Cole, an "expat" who has been pulled from sure death in his time of 1647 into the present. His bridge is to help him adjust to his new life. she tells him about the history that has taken place, germs (which he just simply refuses to partake in), the internet, what terms and phrases are no longer appropriate, etc. I love British humor, so this book made me happy. Cole and his bridge must live together for a year, which he finds scandalous, while he adjusts. Their relationship starts as friends and deepens. There is a very unique twist I didn't see coming. It is told from her point of view, but he narrates his ill-fated journey to find the inside passage at the beginning of each chapter.
One observation, I tend to like short chapters. In this book, there are only 10 chapters. The chapters are enormously long. It's not a complaint, just an observation.

I loved all of the twists and turns, original time-bending concepts, and emotional ending of the thrilling novel! I especially had a hard time putting it down at the end, I highly recommend this one.
