Gorey damn, this was damn gorey! I love it. I want even more perspectives in the next book. Sad we didnt get chapters of Sevro’s or Victra’s perspectives, it would be wild to see thru either of their eyes. Hopefully we get those in the next book. Anyways, pregnant Victra is BADASS! My new favorite character, sorry Sevro.

Everything I wanted from this series, intense, cinematic, large scale, and heart wrenching moments. All packed in one book. "Consequences".

Dark Age is a title that doesn't just describe the book, it defines it. But it definitely started as a very slow read for me!
I found myself slogging through Lysander's chapters, which seemed to be filled with endless dialogue and little momentum. Fortunately, Darrow's intense chapters were more than enough to pull me through the early slump.
Once I got into part 2 of the book that's where it really picked up for me. The stakes become incredibly personal, and this is where Pierce Brown truly hits the mark. The Virginia and Ephraim chapters really picked up the pace for me. And there's a ton going on!
"That girl might have your blood, but I'm her people. She deserves more than dying for yours. If you want her as your heir it'll be over my dead fucking body."
This quote is a perfect example of the raw, emotional weight this book carries. It was at this point that I knew I was in for a truly painful yet brilliant journey.
And painful it was. The end of Part 2 left me completely wrecked! I literally had to close the book and walk away for a bit just to recover. Just kidding, I slung the book across the room and was done reading for the day!
Part 3 is a fantastic conclusion for me, wrapping up some major plot threads with pulse-pounding action and shocking reveals that left me wanting more! Dark Age is a dark, emotional, and unforgettable chapter in this series, and it's left me desperate for Light Bringer.

Not perfect but I still enjoy the series. Definitely excessive violence, it’s getting more intense by the book. The pacing was a little strange. I loved getting Virgina’s POV and I liked the way Lyria, Volga, and Victra came together - they make an unusual friendship trio and I like that it came about. Very sad that Ephraim died, I did really like his overall arc though. I hated Lysander as I think most did but to me it shows Pierce’s ability to write characters well. All the perspectives felt very different and I appreciate that each character’s goals, motivations, choices, and personality are very distinct and complex, and they each felt they were doing the right thing.
