This book just fell so flat. I didn't connect with any of the characters, the "romance" was insta-love with zero tension and hardly any interaction with each other. I think it had a lot of potential with the magic system and society, but it was executed so poorly. I just wanted the book to end since I was so bored with it at halfway through. Disappointed, not recommended.

What an amazing Debut novel. Not only did it serve amazing fantasy and romance, it also had a whole lot of diversity. I was expecting a purely straight plot but boy was I wrong.

Sinner's Isle is set in a world where women with power, the Majestic's, are seen as witches and kept as Sinner's on Sinner's Isle. Every year they host the Offering, the men who pay the highest amount of money get to buy and bind a Majestic to them. They have the chance to tie her power to their soul and basically control them, without them being able to resist or kill the man.
This plot was horrifying to imagine and it was even more horrible to feel within the book.

The main plot however is about the love story between the Majestic Rosa and the Prince of Pirates Mariano. They have to fight against all odds to be able to escape the Offering before Rosa is bound to another.
Reading their love story truly felt like an adventure and it brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions.
The Plot was so good. Truly amazing. Rosa wanting to flee the island with her best friend because she doesn't want to get bound to a man she doesn't love added so much intensity to the novel.

As I mentioned before, there is so much love and diversity! I was not expecting that many lgbtqia+ relations and how amazing it was written. Love was written as almost unimportant as to who you love because love is the most important thing. Obviously the Offering was limited as to a man buying a woman but apart from that love was just love. It did not matter if a woman loved a woman or a man loved a man and I absolutely loved this. This book felt so welcoming and like an open hug to everyone who reads it.
The characters themselves, apart from the horrible ones, were written so well, I loved everyone and I chuckled on multiple occasions because of my favorite character: Santi. I would definitely want to be his friend.

I don't think I have to say more: This book felt like home and I would give it unlimited Stars if I could. I read 200+ pages in one sitting and I usually never do that, this book however made me want to finish it. Now I'm a bit sad because I'm done but it was a magnificent experience.

i enjoyed the magic, witchyness and pirates! The world/ island was written very well!

The only problem I had was how insta lovey it was since it all spanned in a week and few days, but other than that I adored how Rosalindaโ€™s character is! And of course mariano being charming.

This was a feisty and enjoyable YA romantasy with a great amount of mythology and feminism. If you are a fan of The Sunken City trilogy by Emma V. R. Noyes, you will love this!

What I liked:

Didn't like it. Rosalinda felt like a Marie Sue and way too overpowered. The writing was also clunky and overexplained. I wanted a bit more mystery, not the author explaining things immediately.
