Love it! Great little tips that you most likely already know instinctively if you have done any kind of writing or too much reading. My favorite chapters were the last two. Loved the ideas, some general and some specific to the English language, and oh well, English not being my mother language, I appreciate the help there.

Nice compact book describing one method/approach to writing. One of my grad school professors blurbed it, and he's brilliant, so you know there's good stuff in there.

Practical, helpful, and well organized. I listened to the audiobook through Hoopla / my library, and immediately added it to my bookstore cart so I can pick up a physical copy next time I buy books. It’s a book I want to revisit.

Some useful tips. I liked "write the islands" and "be wary of 'have to' scenes," as well as the advice to rewrite the entire draft during stage 2 (word for word). But I didn't get much out of this, as it is tailored for pantsers, not plotters.
Also, this was a terrible audiobook. There really should have been some notation that informed the reader we were on to a new tip (e.g. "tip number five - Write the Islands"). As it was, the narrator just blurts out, without so much as a pause beforehand, the heading and you're thrown into a new section.

I DNFed halfway in after rereading the while first quarter - I thought I just hadn't focused enough, but the book just didn't spike my interest. It may be the audiobook version - it goes on and on about tricks without a break to grasp what has been said. The same was true for going on and on about examples of literature. It must be a minority opinion, but I also think this can be summarized in an article.
