This book was a desperate buy.
I normally don't buy e-books and I've never bought a self-help book. I didn't and still don't believe just reading a book can change your life completely, it's way more complicated than that.
But at the time I found this book on amazon, after excessively googling how to overcome anxiety, I was really desperate. My anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia had gotten worse again, after years of battling them and visiting many therapists I slowly ran out of hope this could ever get better in the long run.
So I was as far as buying a self help book that claimed it had a completely new tactic on how to deal with anxiety. I was still sceptical, but the unbelievably good score it got on Amazon convinced me to at least give it a try. Who knows? Maybe it had an answer? And if not 7€ weren't the world. It was worth a try.
And well, what should I say? Of course this book didn't change my life completely, but I didn't expect that in the first place.
What it did, though, was present to me a different approach on how to deal with anxiety. An approach some therapists have hinted at but were never able to convince me of because they explained it so poorly.
That's an aspect that made this book so good, why it hit so close to home - you noticed that the author had been through all of this himself and therefore did address so many of the struggles and doubts I deal with. The whole technique was explained so well, easy to understand, yet always based on scientific data, immediately addressing all of the doubts and questions that run through your mind.
And like that it changed my mind on how I see anxiety, how I approach it.
It's definitely no immediate cure and I doubt it will help me "heal" completely. But it is a different approach that is more effective than how I've approached my anxiety so far. And that's enough for me for now.
I never expected to be cured by this book, I honestly didn't expect anything. So I definitely got way more than I thought I would out of it. And therefore it definitely deserves 5 stars.
I mean, it changed my view on anxiety a lot, more than any therapist has probably ever done. And I approach it differently now. If this will help me completely "heal" from it, I don't know, I doubt it. But it helped me manage it differently, better and that's so much already.

shoutout to my therapist for the book.
it was super repetitive. i generally liked the idea of the dare method but after so many pages it was just like reading the same thing over and over and over again. i like the chapter that was focused on intrusive thoughts. but a lot of the chapters suggested things for helping anxiety that would have just peaked my anxiety 10x worse than it would have been for me initially.
also if one more person tells me to drop caffeine to make my anxiety better i'm going to scream. coffee has never made my anxiety worse. leave me and my coffee alone!!!!!
