I couldn't put this title down. It was sad, and touching at the same time. The story doesn't end as compactly as I might have liked as a reader, but I understand the author's motive in not doing so. It made the tale so much more compelling by leaving with questions that had no answer. I was moved by the characters love for each other, and the bonds of family, even the complicated ones.

This is a great book if you’re wanting to cry it out.

Loved the back and forth between timelines. Read/listened about 50/50 because I couldn't stop reading but needed to do chores. Very interesting historical fiction read based on events that happened to real people. Very sad, but has a fairly happy ending.
