I read this book a few months ago. I can't really remember the details of what happened but I think I enjoyed it. It's one of those guilty pleasure romance books.
Can't remember the personalities or character names though and I have a good memory so ...

I love liz. But the amount of times in the first few chapters she made me cringe and just.. yeah. But love the book, amazing

"Better Than the Movies" is not a particularly innovative book, nor is it groundbreaking in terms of story-line, but it excels magnificently in its ordinary circumstance- as a young adult novel about enemies to friends to lovers. It's such a sweet book about the two main characters, and the author fleshes out their relationship with each other so well- the fmc Liz Buxbaum is painfully adorable with plenty of quirks and lovable parts of her personality. Wes Bennett, the main love interest (one of the most superior ever written), is caring, gentle and kind- the way that he’s described, his eyes, his demeanor and constant attention: really really great. The book is decorated with plenty of classic Rom-com references, as well as having Liz constantly compiling a soundtrack of her life for every circumstance (so endearing and cute). What "Better Than the Movies" particularly excels in, however, are the relationships surrounding Liz and the ways that these characters touch her life- her mother who passed away when she was young and influenced her love of romance movies, her reluctance in letting her stepmother overstep or overlay any of her mother's memories, her turbulent relationship with her best friend. I was initially concerned by the halfway point that the female relationships weren't going to be fully actualized but was pleasantly surprised! Maybe I was PMSing when I read this book but I cried a lot. I loved it :)) (Best romance, 5 stars!)

If comfort could be a book, it would be this. This is the best rom-com I've ever read. I love everything about this book. This was so fun to read. I am team Liz&Wes forever.
