The two main characters were still insufferable. If I hear “not the kind of girl” one more time I will scream.
It was a fun read though, even if the twist wasn’t entirely surprising.

It was a quick read (as expected since it's YA). Both MCs are badass and not annoying. 🤭 I get the hype of Mr. Thomas Cresswell now. 😍
The good, very descriptive writing captured the ambiance and vibe perfectly. Do be warned that there might be some gory descriptions since, you know, it's about murder and corpses. If you're not used to that kind of stuff, might as well rethink if you really want to read this.

Anyways, while I was decidedly NOT a fan of the extremely grotesque descriptions, I like the characters enough to hope for more growth and might eventually read the sequels!

The main characters are studying forensic science and are helping solve the brutal murders committed by Jack the Ripper. There are descriptions of autopsies, human dissection, and post mortem procedures as well as the injuries and mutilations sustained by the murder victims. I am not a person who regularly watches crime shows or gory stuff and I felt ok with it, but it may be bothersome to someone very squeamish or generally uncomfortable with dead bodies.
