There are some genuinely scary stories compiled in here, made all the more harrowing by the fact that they are based on true accounts. Horror fans rejoice, but maybe don't read it alone before bed unless you enjoy sleeping with the lights on.

If I could I would give it 6 stars! Great book and even greater podcast.

I listened to the audiobook as opposed to reading the physical book. I definitely think that this adds to the enjoyment of the book, especially as a long time fan of the podcast series that this is based off. Many of the stories are interesting, and he often finishes his stories discussing the philosophy, psychology or science around the subject matter which I found particularly interesting! At times though, the stories did feel a tad long, and although this didn't bother me as I enjoy his narration, I think that this could become tedious if I was reading the physical book.

I'd recommend the book to those that are fans of the podcast or those who like spooky stuff as there's probably something here for everyone.

Great book! Sometimes I felt like some events/mysteries were overshadowed by the larger theme Richard was trying to go for in a given chapter
(Skinwalker Ranch and Mothman were both I felt weren't give as much limelight as other stories in the book, it could have also been the story didn't pair well with the theme in my head *shrug*)
but overall felt that these stories were all covered very well and even given extra, more recent, information if there were any that applied.

A pretty fun read if, like me, you were a kid who grew up on The X-Files and Sightings. I wish more of the stories hadn't been so familiar, as quite a few were quite well-trod ground. I did enjoy the philosophical intros and outros for each chapter.

Spooky stories tucked between scientific/philosophical ponderings. Very interesting read.

This is my favourite podcast. Each week Richard delivers new stories that I have never heard before, and I actually cannot listen to it at night.

This book was exactly what I was expecting. Great stories from a great story teller. I had heard a few of the stories before, but hearing them from his perspective was worth it.

The best story, in my opinion, was the Slender Man one. It was poignant, tragic, and a story of the future all rolled into one.

Such a good compilation of folk lore, hauntings, and creepypasta but with an added element of philosophy, science, and a healthy dose of “I want to believe”
