This feels like a 2nd or 3rd draft that needs review and polish. There were quite a few continuity errors(???), alongside numerous grammatical issues. Personally, that’s my biggest peeve since it kept taking me out of the suspension of disbelief.
I did not care for the MC but I did enjoy some of the other characters, and I found the premise interesting. I will stick with the series to see where it goes.

I got sucked immediately into this paranormal fiction with Nyx being different, bullied, rejected; her character intrigued me. Add in an alpha heir, dark magic, and her being different plus a fake relationship/ friend to lovers relationship, and I'm completely captivated by the characters. I love how the author turned the tables on a typical paranormal fiction story with her twists and new ideas. I can't wait to see what happens to Nyx and Atlas. I want to know more about Nyx and why she is so different, and all of these questions will hopefully be answered in the upcoming books.

Nyx is an eighteen-year-old human who doesn't have shifter capabilities like her parents or sister. She is stressed with her inability to shift and the pack traditions coming up. What will happen to her?

She isn't rejected by a mate, well, but not in a sense I expected. Instead, she is rejected by her pack alpha and her pack, the only place she has known for eighteen years. Her sister does bring up a place for people like her, an academy of sorts. Her outcast walk gets creepy as her sister gives her clues to find this academy, and her mother gives her a necklace. But too that off with a long lonely walk to find a particular landmark and what happens after she sees it.

Nyx joins him with many questions, and they make their way to this infamous Academy. Luna Wolf Academy is a weird name for what actually happens there. Magic and supernatural are things at this academy, and jerk wad mentors. Nyx can't help but be sassy, and I love her personality. Somehow her first day went downhill even though I thought it was great; however, her mentor had an alternate plan for her, including a fake relationship.

This book is full of drama and interesting paranormal characters. Atlas is the son of a wolf shifter alpha and senior student; he is also an insufferable jerk and cocky as heck, but he gets her to agree to this fake relationship. I like that Nyx is different. Apparently, her differences mean trouble in the war they are fighting. This book ends romantically in turmoil and with a cliffhanger of information.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't very long so I was able to finish it pretty quickly. The story was interesting. It's not a fast paced book but it is a steady pace. The only thing I wish there was more details about the world and I wish I could have gotten to know the characters a little better but it's a series so there will probably be more with the other books. I did enjoy Nyx and Atlas's relationship and it will be interesting to see what happens next with them.

no character depth, a need for an editor

I wanted to like this. It was a good idea. However, the author needs to hire an editor. In the beginning of the book I remember a line “her skin was ice cold, like touching a piece of ice”. That’s redundant. He smiled at me. He looked at me angrily. She gave me a knowing look. There’s no showing, it’s all telling which leaves little to the imagination. There’s no transition between some chapters, leaving you confused as to how much time has passed between the last encounter or event. The relationships are shallow with no character building. How did we get from minimal interaction between Atlas and Nyx to them suddenly being madly in love? When did that happen? Extremely disappointing that there was no character development and no character depth.

Okay but too short, not much happens. I suspect the trilogy reads more like a single book than 3 distinct ones.

MMC is super flirty and charming. The FMC is annoying insecure, constantly talking bad about herself

In full me fashion I accepted an Advanced Reader Copy of Nox Wolf not realizing it was Book 2.

So I fired up my Kindle and borrowed it with Kindle Unlimited.

All that said this book was great and got me in the feelings quite a bit.
I love that Nyx is a Tour de Force of a character with as much personality as she has issues which makes for a dynamic character.
I'm ready for Book 2 Now!
