This book definitely had a very slow start. I couldn't get into it at first and was definitely worried it was going to be my first DNF as far as my classics reading goes. But I kept on reading and started getting really invested into the story around Chapter 6/7. From there, I fell in love.

There are parts where it drags a little. But overall, I quite enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook and sometimes followed along in my physical copy as I could. I think this is a book I'm going to listen to again because I feel like there were things I missed when I first started listening to this book.

Overall, though, solid 4/5 stars.

Re-read! I haven’t read this book in a long time, and it held up! The Gothic romance developed by Brontë is beautiful. Even though the audiobook was quite long, I enjoyed listening to it the whole way through. Thandie Newton did a great job of narrating throughout the book, regardless of character’s gender, which isn’t always the case with some audiobooks.
