Jed Ackerberry, a screenwriter, is enjoying a relaxing drive home to L.A. after a visit in his hometown of Needles, California when a skeleton in a pick up truck starts dogging him. Scared and freaked out, he heads back to Needles, but nothing is as it seems and Jed can’t remember why he was even in Needles to begin with. Who is the skeleton and more important, why is he chasing Jed?
This story starts out all la-di-da, a nicely written tale about a nostalgic man having a leisurely drive home on a desert highway when, BAM!, a skeleton in a pick up truck shows up and the adrenaline starts pumping. The unease spread up my spine until the hair on the back of my neck was standing on end. What the hell is going on? I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out the answer. And the answer? Wow. Weird. And creepy.
