I would say this is a solid cozy romantasy that doesn't reinvent wheel but that's fine by me. Elikki and Barra were both absolutely charming characters and I really liked the development of their relationship. Although it is a little insta lovey, they do agree to trial a more serious relationship before truly committing to one another with the agreement that they will go their separate ways if things don't work out. Its decidely mature for a romantasy novel. I like that the two end up learning to communicate with one another and move past their individual romantic hang ups. I just like romance books that model good communication and emotional maturity lol.
The plot was nothing exciting but a romantasy doesn't need a crazy plot to be good. The spicy scenes did become repetitive but they weren't offensive.

The tagline "as spicy as it is sweet" sure isn't wrong! This was a quick, fun read and a great debut by the author. Surprisingly, I could relate more to the MMC than the FMC. Poor Elikki had a shitty life growing up, so she's a ballsy woman who knows what she wants. I normally cringe at a golden retriever/cinnamon roll man, but Barra won me over. I enjoyed the world this story was set in, and I wish what is normal to them was as accepted here. The epilogue was the perfect ending with a touch of spice. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC.

A spicy romantasy about a kickbutt wandering Elf and a teddybear Half Giant. El is proud of her body and sexuality and you won't find one disparaging word about her body attributes, which is downright refreshing in a book. On the other hand, Barra is rather self conscious of his half giant attributes and the shadow he casts, so he tends to make himself smaller to appease others. This 7 ½ foot lavender lover explores his intimacy issues while Elikki deals with her trauma of abandonment as a child, while embarking on a road trip, on the run from bondsmen. This is a great read, with relatable undertones of personal issues. Give it a go, you won't regret it!

The good: the rep in this book! Both FMC and MMC are bisexual and the FMC is plus size. It was a quick read with some humor, making it a good palate cleanser. I loved our MMC Barra - such a sweet baby angel!
The bad: this book was 10% plot, 50% sex, and 40% nothing happening. I’m someone who needs a good plot to keep me invested and this book really didn’t have that. I was also put off by some of the wording in the book - it feels weird to have a fantasy world (not modern/urban) and have the FMC refer to baddies.
If you’re looking for a spicy cozy romantasy palate cleanser with an MMC who’s got it down bad for the FMC, maybe give this one a try.

Barra is our other main character who takes an interest in Elikki after witnessing a situation with another towns person.
They eventually find themselves on the run together to keep of the bounty’s radar.
This book is cute and cozy but also has some spice sprinkled throughout the book between the two.
The pace of this book was pretty steady and it was a quicker read.
