This book is about Susan and Olix.   Susan is a 3rd daughter and wanted a life of her own and to have her own land and marriage.    She is a sweet person who has tons of ideas of how to help Olix people.  She does fall in love with him even though he didn't learn about humans before she came.

Olix doesn't want a wife but it is encouraged from his community, since he is the leader of it.   After a few mistakes with his knowledge of humans being minimal and making many mistakes.   He is a proud man but does fall in love with Susan and how she is going to save his community from having to sell their land.

This was a cute alien romance.  It was very quick to read and I can't wait to read more in this series.

Not sure why this one didn't grab me

Sometimes all the elements are there as a checklist:
✓alien
✓sexy alien
✓anarcho-communist alien society
But it just doesn't click. It felt clunky and slow in many places, and rushed in others. It skirted awkwardly around some of the most interesting elements of the plot, and occasionally felt a bit white-saviour-y. I don't think I'll continue this series. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't! It just wasn't for me.

I have very mixed feelings on this book. While I enjoyed the overall story I think the beginning was way too info dumpy. And I think the researcher could have benefitted from a sensitivity reader for some of the phrasing. I found myself frustrated with the characters a lot too.
