I Married a Lizardman by Regine Abel – This series is on kindle unlimited. I was completely unsure what I was getting into here, but I saw it on TikTok. I feel like a lot of my more interesting book choices start that way now! But I loved this! Cool world, interesting characters, and a great tension between two really diverse (lol) cultures! Happy Reading!

Very well written. Loved that they communicate with each other
So if you're into major conflicts, drama or miscommunication tropes, this isn't the book for you. This book is going to come across as boring to you.
If you're looking for a relatively stress free read, with excellent communication and healthy respect between the love interests? This is a book worth trying.
I adore that Susan and Olik talk to each other, respect their opinions and trust one another. It's so dang refreshing to find in a romance book. This is one of the few times I could look at the couple and go "yeah, this is gonna be a great long term relationship."
That isn't to say the book is without flaws. There are definitely elements of the white saviour trope, however I do appreciate that there is a twist on it: the native population get to retain their way of life, Susan never fully converts them to farming and instead finds a solution with them that lets them successfully continue their hunter gatherer lifestyle. To me it felt more like she was helping them get the tools to thrive on their own.
There is also the virginity/hymen thing. While I don't agree with it, I do appreciate that the author has stated that they did extensive research on the topic and has clearly taken constructive criticism and adjusted the information accordingly. Honestly seeing that conversation alone has earned my trust, I'll happily read more of this author's works.
The decorating his adornments and armour with her 'virgin' blood was a weird aspect, if you're not comfortable with bodily fluids etc this may well put you off the book.
Lastly, I have no idea if it was intentional but I can't help pronouncing 'Gayko' as 'Geico' and giggling like wild over it.
tldr: Don't mind a lack of major conflict? Give it a go. It's very sweet.
