A joyous romance
I know, “joyous”seems like an odd word to use about an alien romance. But this book is full of joy. Olix and Susan are both talented yet insecure; Susan is a useless third daughter in her culture, while Olix is a hunter on a planet where the game is disappearing. So their arranged marriage would seem on the surface to be odd, not to mention that she’s human and he’s a lizard alien.
But what follows is a delightful story of assimilation, patience, and adjustment. I simply adored that Olix and Susan really talk to one another. There are no Big Misunderstandings here, just cultural gaps. And watching each of them overcome the hurdles to building a successful relationship is truly joyous. Add to this a caring, intelligent sensuality between them, and you’ve got a romance that’s pure pleasure to read.
So give this book a chance, even though the title sounds like it was taken from a 1950s horror movie. This lovely little romance won’t disappoint.

I don't know how to begin with this one, I seriously thought that this would just be a meh reading and somehow i found myself with a nice and sweet romance, decent writting and a great approach to the topic of capitalism and colonialism which was completely unexpected.

Supe de este libro por Montse (en tiktok), y la verdad la portada me asustó, pero decidí ignorarla y ver qué tal. No me interesó particularmente el romance, pero, para mi sorpresa, tiene una trama que brilla más que la pareja, y está relacionada con las costumbres y la estructura funcional de la población a la que nuestra protagonista debe integrarse, eso sí me atrapó.
