Lololol back on my monster erotica binge. Why was this so cute

This book was so perfect! I want to read a whole series of it <3

So, uh, as the title suggests, Susan is a human who marries an alien lizard dude, Olix. They've both registered with the Prime Mating Agency, which is run by empathic bird-like aliens, and has as its purpose rectifying violations of the Prime Directive. (If you watch Star Trek, you know exactly what the Prime Directive is. If you don't, listen to our episode and Meg will lay it all out for you.)

The book is pretty much the perfect length: Abel knows how long we want to read about human-on-saurian sex and when it becomes too much. There's no insta-love or even insta-lust, but she also portrays a pretty realistic marriage of convenience with deepening feelings.

But you know we can't leave it at a surface-level enjoyment, so note that there are a lot of problematic elements, including a late-stage capitalism resolution to the conflict, racially coded aliens, the white savior trope, and a big question about whether or not lizardwomen have orgasms.

A sweet, well-written marriage of convenience alien romance! I loved it. The descriptions of the culture clashes and awkwardness of different species getting together was so well done.

I would describe this as a cozy, slice of life type romance. There's a subtle plot, not a big adventure type plot.

I appreciated how the couple had to work to communicate their needs and expectations in a realistic way. The caring relationship that developed was so sweet, and I loved how spicy things got between them.

The author did a great job with the realistic world-building and character development. I love nature and biology, so I enjoyed the explanations about the farming and the mystery of what was going on with the wildlife and environment.

I didn't give it a full five stars because I got stressed when Susan starts off trying to get her new clan interested in farming after their explanation about why they don't want to. I was glad I kept reading to see how things worked out.

This is my first book that I've read by this author, and I'm excited to read more!
