No strong representation of diverse characters or minority identities.

I had to read this book after seeing the cover – it's probably one of the least enticing sci-fi romance covers I've ever come across. However, it did an excellent job of demonstrating what the Heroine would be feeling after seeing her betrothed.

The relationship between the MCs was pretty straightforward; they navigated their relationship as you'd expect, considering they were strangers when they were married. Their relationship develops into respect and friendship and eventually deepens to love. I can understand why quite a few reviewers felt ambivalent about their relationship; there weren't many (if any) stakes on them not making their marriage work.

However, I really enjoyed the plot about the sinister intergalactic corporation attempting to push the native people out of their land. It kept the story engaging, especially as the Heroine learned how to reconcile her farming passion (culturally fostered) with her husband's people's disdain for such practices.

The world-building was also top-notch.

Safety Rating: Safe

• No cheating
• No OW/OM drama
• No pushing away
• No separation

Possible Triggers: Yes

• Big corporation trying to steal/coerce the sale of the land of the native people
• Virgin heroine

This is the perfect book and I will not elaborate. The title is stupid, the cover is weird, there's goofy miscommunication, compromises without disrespecting each other's points of view, a happy cheery ending, lots of drama without any real triggering or intense content, just a fun little farming romp. 10/10

edit: increasing rating from 4.75 to 5 stars after a reread. the smut is better than I remembered, the worldbuilding is rich and thoughtful without being over exposition-y, and overall this book is literally perfect

Such a cute and fluffy romance, I'm a sucker for marriage of convenience tropes and this one was perfect! Both characters were very communicative, and supportive of each other. The husband was an adorable himbo, and the wife was strong willed but kind.
I wish there was more in this series, but was also glad that this book read like a standalone.

Ohmygoodness I loved this book!!
Susan and Olix were beyond precious, their relationship *chef’s kiss* perfection and the way they communicated with each other and through any issues that arose *clutches at heart!* fricking stellar!!
Good story and well written, gave me my prerequisited HEA and couple goals, what more could a girl ask for??!
This is my first (but definitely not my last) Regine Abel book, I will most assuredly be perusing her back catalogue after this!!

Okay, this couple was just perfect. I loved the way they communicated with each other throughout their relationship but especially at the beginning. They’re thrown into this marriage of convenience with little to no knowledge about the other’s species and cultures. They were so patience with each other as they learned and didn’t blow up with anger whenever there was an inevitable slight. He also defended her to other members of his village whenever they spoke bad about her, which was super sweet.

Also, his lubricant tastes like cotton candy which is worth a automatic star
