My review will be live on my blog shortly. However, I will say this book was kind of boring compared to Slated and Fractured.

I rate this one 3.5 stars.

I had high expectations for this book, and it didn't really live up to them. Well, it was still pretty good, but I was going for a five star approach, since book 2 vastly improved from book 1, however Shattered went down a bit, to be honest, close to Slated's level, though the ending made a difference.

The first half had me a little bored, it was dull with not much going on apart from Kyla talking to Stella and going about her usual business. No, no, NO! Not this again, please! It was like Slated all over again - like I'm sorry, I don't really care about how you went to group and ran with Ben, and go to school, Kyla. And on top of that, Aiden is not even present? I was really excited for this book before I'd began reading; I think that remaining excitement is only what got me through it.

Things really started to get good at about the halfway point (like Slated), where some actual action and thrill takes place - also Aiden is back in the picture! However what annoyed me is that she just can't seem to give up Ben, even when he killed a bunch of people and turned psycho, even when that means turning her back on Aiden, even when he's just so uncaring and insufferable as a potential love interest in general. Their romance had no appeal to me in book 1 whatsoever, and frankly I did not care what happened to him - whether he got slated, ran away or whatever, so be it. (Actually, Ben running away would be great, at least we wouldn't have to suffer the horrible love triangle and Aiden gets a chance - funny that exact thing happens!) And Aiden - he's what it should be. Caring, loyal, not pushy - like come on Kyla seriously? You treat him so badly, and then you expect he'll have you back as a last resort when you realise Ben really is psycho.

A decent finish to this series.
While it is definitely a younger adult series, and therefore the language and plot isn't too complex/ is fairly guided, the books are interesting, quite original and well written.
I'm sure if I'd have read it when I was younger I'd have loved it.
I like how the books don't shy away completely from some slightly darker moments and thought the ending nicely tied us the loose ends, although the plot twists seemed a little random.
Mostly I thought it was hilarious that the whole dystopian type world kicks off from Brexit given the book was written before we escaped the EU.

started out quite slow but i feel that was needed to take a break from the action in ‘fractured’ and allow your brain to rest before the ending. this book was actually amazing and i am torn between four and five stars because i loved it dearly but ‘fractured’ was still my favourite from the series. i really loved this series with my entire heart and although its been three days since i put this book down, i can’t get over it. the last page was so cute!!! i grew close to the characters and i really loved how in depth and different and interesting they all were. i initially wasn’t fond of the lack of action and tension but that soon went away as soon as the lorders got on the train. when i got to the last few chapters, my mind was blown. the part when skye (ben’s labrador) got shot by accident made me cry. she survived though and that made me happy. i truly loved the concept of this series and i will be recommending to everyone i know.
