adventurous lighthearted medium-paced

This continues to be hands down my favorite graphic novel series. I loved this volume so much! It really touched on the fitting in and being an outsider all mixed with kick ass girl characters who take action.

A Plot Thickens

This had to be the heaviest plot relevant volume so far. We got a good look into Rose as a person. Overall a really good volume.

The series picks up again! After volume three left me feeling wanting more, volume four gives us a lot more mystery, and a lot more information about what's REALLY going on at the camp. I mean, there are still a lot of questions left to be answered, but Stevenson isn't teasing us any more; she's giving us more bits of information that make the picture become a little clearer.

I love how she throws in that one of the characters has two dads, without making a big deal out of it. I also love that one of the subplots is about men feeling the need to be know-it-alls (knows-it-all?) whenever they're in a group, and I ESPECIALLY love that she gives us a reason why, at least for that one particular character. I dig the theme of inclusion so far.

Monstrous mayhem returns in this volume and this time it's go big or go home. We're back into the action adventure with strong fantasy elements but holding a group of scouting Lumberjanes at its heart. Characters continue to grow and reveal themselves and this story takes advantage of the world that has been built up by starting to unpack other characters and their histories to drive the story.

The more we learn about the camp and it's history, the faster I want to read it to find out what happens next! In this one, we meet someone important from Camp Director Rosie's past and the Lumberjanes pal up with their friend Scouting Lad Barney to rescue Jen!
