A tragic true crime study of the Osage murder case. The tragic loss of many lives that were never fully brought to justice. Money the root of evil in this case and racial inequality and discrimination lead to this tragic trajectory of events. The outcry of these crimes and the fear that was created lead to the governments creation of the FBI.

I learned a lot from this true crime book and enjoyed learning about not only the history of the FBI but the Osage people and the presidential corruption that occurred during these tragedies. I recommend this book to any true crime fan.

I listened to this in one day because I could not put it down.

The book is split into three basic sections: the story of Mollie Burkhart, the story of Tom White, and the story of the author. The movements are extremely well executed and the literary voice is engaging. It's a very well written book.

But, like, more than that: history is insane. The things we don't get taught are wild.  I need everyone I know to read this book.

Total score: 5/5 stars

Y'all WHAT. How did I never hear about this??? (Which is rhetorical because obviously the essentially genocide of the Osage would of course not be covered in my white history classes.) I'll definitely be revisiting this book because a lot of the sentiment toward Native people still exist today and we need to be much more aware of the total destruction that racism can cause. God. If this was a novel, I would have a hard time believing it. It's that intricate and horrific.
