The first handful of chapters on education, parent involvement, and student motivation were woefully bereft of trauma-informed and culturally-responsive awareness; for example, discipline is NOT a research-based way to increase student motivation, often lack of motivation in minority and low SES students is due to numerous other challenges they face, and a lack of parent involvement can be indicative of a myriad of factors including work, illness, incarceration, and much, much more.

The final chapter had very good insights around mobilizing support and volunteers, organizing events and funding, and other skills deemed essential in non-profit work which, I agree, are also essential in organizing outside support in schools. That chapter is worth reading, but you can get similar advice and expertise from a book on organizing volunteers, events, and funding for nonprofits. Not a book I would recommend.
