I really enjoyed the beginning and middle of the book, but I felt like the ending kind of dragged.

Craig was fine but his attitude towards women was kinda hard to read. There was a lot of objectification and
his end relationship with Noelle is definitely unrealistic. She was way too cool for him tbh.

All in all, I feel like this is a great book for people struggling with any kind of mental health issues. I like how he decided to do what was best for him rather than his academic future. The book also focuses on the importance of asking for help when needed and shows that the pros outweigh the cons.

I would definitely recommend reading this.

Average - decent depictions of mental illness, but an unrealistic “recovery” arc for the main character which relied heavily on him having a crush on a girl in the psych ward with him? All in all mid-tier.

i don’t know.
the book hit home in so many ways. i appreciate how it talked about depression and anxiety and the emphasis on the fact that depression is a chemical imbalance is great. i found myself relating to many of craig‘s thoughts
but i hate how much it focuses on him being obsessed with having sex. i get it, he’s a 15 year old teenager and i think that’s what made it easier to deal with but it was very frustrating to read his thoughts when meeting girls and especially girls who he found to be pretty. that made me him so much less likable
not to mention the transphobia and dead naming as soon as craig found himself in the mental hospital
i’m thankful that the book doesn’t end on a hopeful note but why did it have to end with craig feeling better because he nearly had sex and found a girl who likes him back

i’m glad i read it because of the relatable description of anxiety and depression but i’m not sure if i would recommend it to anyone due to craig’s harmful thoughts

no.

strongly disliked, i tried to push through but i hated how the main character talked about the girl he likes. incredibly gross. i don’t see how it’s so necessary to hear about his thoughts when they’re all teenagers. only barely made it to when he’s finally admitted to the psych hospital and instantly greeted with transphobia…..right…..
after that i got disinterested and i ended i think right on when the family visits him. it was just so stupid.
would not recommend, 2/5
