While Goscinny and Uderzo were still figuring out their characters, this first in the Asterix series is a lot of fun. It's especially a treat for Asterix fans to see the slightly less-refined characterizations, and those who are new to the series should enjoy this introduction to the members of the little Gaulish village who are still holding out against the Roman invaders -- with the help of some magic potion. The Asterix stories are full of silliness, cartoon fighting, and puns, and "Asterix the Gaul" is no exception. Despite being the first, it holds up well and is the appropriate welcome to those who wish to visit with these lovable Gauls.

Neden bu kadar sevdiğimi anlamadım ama çok eğlenceli. Böyle bir hikayeyi çizgi romanlaştırmak ve insanlara sevdirmek büyük başarı.

By Toutatis! Asterix and Getafix land the Romans in a spot of bother in a 'hair'-raising adventure.

This wasn't my first-time read of Asterix #1.

To date, I thank my father for introducing me to Asterix and gang, though I watched the movie, at the time. Same concept, different representation.

These are totally hilarious. I love them. I used to read them as a kid in french, which I never learned, but I remember all the stories from the pictures.

It's been a long time coming but I finally got around to starting with the Asterix comics! Asterix the Gaul was hilarious - a classic tale of outwitting the enemy army with sheer cunning (and a little bit of magic, of course), I couldn't help but draw parallels with the grim story of Iron Man and how he escaped his own captors with the help of Ho Yinsen, the scientist to Asterix's Getafix. Except with more than a shade of humor.
Looking forward to rest of the series.

Feels so good to re-read this again,so many quips i may have missed as a child are now in front of me! Asterix is always fun. Especially when you have had a long day and all you need is some silly laughter.
