I could read 500 books like this. I was pretty familiar with Bill Bass from my forensic anthropology classes in college, this book is a collection of his case studies. In case you were wondering what the most interesting thing in the world is, it's probably forensic anthropology.

I would rate this book 2.5 stars (but clearly there's no half-star rating).

The book gave some great details about forensic anthropology, especially how important the teeth and dental record were to identify the body, as well as how little fractures on the bone, skull can determine in why and how the person die. I wished there were cases about it, but the long unnecessary details (such as how he met other anthropologist, and retold their cases which did not relate to the story he currently mentioned) did not allow me to enjoy this book as much as I wanted.

Pretty interesting stuff. Picked this up at the library by chance when I saw it in the "new book" section. I remembered a CSI episode about a 'body farm', but was surprised to learn that the original 'Body Farm' is at the Univ. of Tennessee, a school my family was planning to visit as my son was going to apply there (he's now a freshman at Tenn.). Bill Bass' writing can be a little corny at times, but the contributions he's made to forensic science are undeniable.

While this one is great, it was less about the body farm and more about cases that Dr. Bill Bass worked on. It was interesting, but it wasn’t what I exactly thought it would be.

This book kept me engaged and intrigued, and regenerated my love for all things anatomy.

I also love true crime, so it was cool that this book held that, as well.

I did find the author to be a bit self-centered and prideful at times, but it didn't get too much in the way of the story and writing.

Overall worth a read!
