This is such an original idea and I'm interested to see where this goes...

I am not a shoujo fan in the slightest. I haven't a clue what made me read this series, but I couldn't be happier I did. YNSH is absolutely hysterical (although chibi!Sunako appears a bit too often for my liking).

Okay, I'm officially fangirling over this shojo manga series, like hardcore. The characters are flippin' adorable-ness with a topping of SO DAMN FUN! The lead heroine, Sunako, is pretty much my definition of Misfit Weirdo, and I love her like mad for that fact! I'm obsessed with how this series is so character driven, and I'm practically drooling at the mouth to get my hands on Volume 2. Much drool; all of the drool.

Yes, yes, the plot is a bit simplistic in that it's the "Four Hot Guys Need To Turn The Ugly Duckling Into The Princess," BUT I DON'T CARE, DAMMIT! I am all about some love for this adorableness, and now I not only need all 33+ and counting volumes of the manga, but I want the anime adaptation on my computer. Like, now.

I mean, for the love of God and smexy art, when you have a slice of this gorgeousness as a page sample, HOW COULD YOU NOT CUE ALL THE LOVES?!

I just. I can't even.

I can't express in words how much I love this series. Volume 1 hooked me with its beautiful art and wonderful characters. I laughed so hard at one point that I couldn't breathe. Chainsaws are amazing, especially when wielded by a fifteen year old girl. And any reference to Sadako from Ringu is an automatic win. This book wins in many, many ways. Like I said before, I have no words, just squishy feeling of love for the amazingness that is "Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge" ^_^
funny lighthearted

It’s not really my thing but it is entertaining

I felt that the situation of the manga is a little weird. A girl being forced into living with four men is just something I don't really see any family member doing. Yes, I know that this is a manga, but it is still seems strange to me. Also, the reason they come is because they get free rent. I don't see how that reason would cause them to come and live with a girl they never met before. The way we don't see how they come to live here is also odd. They are four beautiful men so don't they feel, if only a little bit, like they are being bought as a harem for this girl? Or, if they don't think so, why don't their parents? They are only 15!

When a manga is set to be nonrealistic, then I am more willing to accept inconsistencies like this. However, this manga is supposed to be a slice of life so I don't like that none of these things are fully explained/thought out.

As for the main character, I feel like she is over reacting to one guy telling her she is ugly. She seals herself off from the world and doesn't look at any mirrors for two years. When she finally does see herself in a mirror, she kicks it in.

This manga is about her finding out she is actually very beautiful when she tries. Nice message, but I've read too many books like that to find it impressive.

Almost 5 years later, I have finally bought the second volume, and seeing as I really didn't remember much from the first time I read this, decided it was time for a super quick reread. My original rating was 3 stars, but I think imma have to up that.

Don't ask me what made me start reading a manga; anyone who knows me should be able to confirm the fact that manga is among the Top 100 Things Guaranteed Not To Interest Marie.

... Except, of course, that I have this habit of being interested even in things that don't interest me.

Give me an old-fashioned book with lots of text and no pictures any day - yet I found this surprisingly fun. Still, I doubt you'll find me seeking out manga on a regular basis.
