This was one of my favorite multiperspective books I’ve ever read! It was so seamless and always in the right place at the right time. Check out my full review at @lorensbooknook on Instagram!
4/ Super polished debut -- riff on Irish American family sagas, it does a good job of pivoting away from some of the more tired tropes. Lange added complexity and messiness to all of the characters, they're not quite anti-heroes but certainly not aspirational by any means.
Barely 3⭐️ I just couldn’t relate to this family and that was my main issue as the novel progressed. You can tell it is a debut novel and follows a specific formula.
The sins of the fathers. Impressive for a first book and an enjoyable read. The blame the victim aspect was a bit hard to take.
At first, I thought it was going to be a generic story with a predictable ending, but I was happy to be proven wrong. This story took a few twists I did not seem coming, and their family values made their characters much more likeable.
