DS Imogen Grey no 4

I’ve read/ listened to several others in the series, but not in order. For me the author nails a modern crime thriller, great pace, plenty of tension, some action, a lot of emotional content, she manages to cut out the boring procedural elements of modern police work.

In this book women are being targeted and k*lled. We get various points of view, seeing some very troubled individuals, the reader initially doesn’t know who they all are, or how they are connected.
The characters are very well crafted and fleshed with a lot of psychological content in amongst the procedural. It’s the depth of the characters and their complicated lives that give this so much appeal for me.
Another excellent offering from an author who is fast becoming a favourite for me. If you enjoy audiobooks I can highly recommend them.

This book was a gift and it turns out it was the third book to a book series I’ve never read. So i think there was a missing backstory to some of the characters, but it seemed to be fairly separate in terms of the storyline.

This crime thriller novel followed DS Imogen Grey and BS Adrian Miles on the case of discovering there is a serial killer in town who likes to strangle his victims. The book follows there case as well as the life of Connor who is new in town.

It seemed as if every single person mentioned in the book gad experience some kind of heartbreak, some kind of trauma in their lives. As if a reminder that there is always more to people than meets the eye, and there is ALWAYS some kind of internal/external struggle we know nothing about. It also explores a very real, potential risks associated with social media and online dating!

I absolutely loved the read as i found myself flicking back and fourth between the pages trying to solve the case before the detectives (obviously i did). The language used is so easy to follow and the story flows so well. I probably will be trying to read the rest of the books as it want to get to know the characters more. I really hope there is another book after this one that explores this case further because ahh. I was thinking about the book DAYS after i finished it and ended up having a dream about the storyline.

So if you’re some that loves serial killers (not like IN love with them but more so the intrigue... idk how to explain it aha) or just like a good crime novel, i think you’d enjoy this read. With both cute moments and terrifying moments , this is an intense read

I’ve been reading the miles and grey series since the very first book and I am still as obsessed as I was then.
The story of this book was extremely gripping and if I didn’t have to put it down I would have probably finished it in one sitting.
Recommend everyone to start this series!!

The Promise is the fourth book in the Imogen Grey & Adrian Miles mystery series and this is really a series that I can’t get enough of. To be honest, I think they get better with each new book. This last installment was as exciting and as addictive as always and although the mystery storyline wasn’t my favorite, the storyline focused on Imogen and Adrian was the absolute best.

The team is investigating a serial killer who takes the victims on a date before killing them. And when they find out he chooses them while playing a mobile app, Imogen decides to act as bait. She’s not living a good moment after a romantic breakup and neither is Adrian, who had his heart broken in the last book.

The relationship between Imogen and Adrian has always been one of my favorite parts of this series. It’s not romantic, or at least it isn’t yet, and it’s so complex and beautiful that I would read about them for many more years. In this book, their relationship is more special than ever and their scenes had me on the edge of my seat.

As it is common in Katerina Diamond’s novels, we have multiple perspectives here. This time, the three voices are from Imogen & Adrian, a young troubled teenager called Connor who’s new in town, and the mysterious young woman from the journal pages. As you can expect, there’s a connection between them, and while there’s not a twist as there was in The Angel, the plot was thrilling and I read about 75% of The Promise in one sitting.

This book is everything you can expect from a cop procedural. The mystery is amazing and I care so much about these characters that I can’t wait until the next book is out! Hopefully soon.
