This is not the formerly gifted kid representation we wanted nor is it the one we needed.
I gave this 2.5 stars initially. Despite how chummy the ending felt, the character development was nice, even if it felt rushed.
Edit: I’ve read some other reviews and some very valid points have been made. Colin is literally the cringe epitome of “quirky white boy”. Lindsey only exists as a way for Colin to go through character development. And yeah there sort of is no plot. Bumping it down to 2

This book was not good. I really struggled to finish it, which is disappointing because I thought the concept had promise. I was so incredibly sick of seeing "fugging" and all of its forms in every other paragraph of this book... It reminded me of the annoying way my high school boyfriend would talk. The only positive: my husband's family is from the same area of Tennessee that a large majority of the book takes place in... That was cool, I guess??

Great banter and an engaging story. Not my favourite John Green though.

So... I honestly really have no idea what I read through about 80% of this book. It is really hard to follow. All of the other books from John Green are great, this one was just awful.
