Amazingly good. I wasn’t sure how I would like listening to a dramatization, but wow! Gripping and quite enjoyable.

Another great Audible Audio cast performance. The story itself lagged a little bit. I know it's historical fiction and women were 2nd class citizens and weren't supposed to know anything but that got old real fast. In the end, it was a classic English Gothic tale.

When you think you read a book, or even listened to it, and then find out.. that it was all a dream.
Thankfully, The Darkwater Bride was on my audible app and was short enough for me to listen to before I finished my work. I'm also not going to lie, I feel like a lot happened in this book. There is a mysterious family death and then the MC weaves in and out of complicated and weird situations.
The whole plot around the darkwater bride was honestly spooky. She intrigued me to no end because how could you rescue, save, and do all sorts of things.. and then bam - my mind is blown at the end! I think the only thing I would've change would be Catrina. Ugh, she kind of annoyed me in this because she was so young and naïve about so many things. Sometimes she was brave but at that point - it didn't mean much to me.
Overall, super happy that I dove into this. Definitely needed to switch things up genre wise and now I'm ready my next book dive!

The full cast production was so fun to listen to. Everyone preformed so well. The story itself had caused a swirl of emotions in me, fear, rage, and pain. I couldn't stop listening until the very end.
I really tried with the book. It was free on my audible account and I said why not? Well, this is why not... I have almost nothing good to say about it.
I tried, really I did. I wanted to be scared, to find mystery in this, to be enthralled, but I couldn't find any of that. I have to say some of it was entertaining to listen to, but that was about all it was for me. It's sad because that cover felt like there was so much more that just wasn't.

I never write reviews, but this was so awful I couldn’t help myself. I wish I could have it scrubbed from my brain. I didn’t heed the warnings in other reviews of how shockingly violently misogynistic it is. But it truly was scene after unbelievable scene of rage-filled, jarring, and upsetting tirades hurled at the (admittedly exasperating) one-dimensional female characters. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Talented cast with atmospheric sound effects, but it was sometimes difficult to hear voices over the effects. Great premise, but the author's "men are bad" screed grew tiresome after a while. No men are good??? I expected more of a spooky story and got something quite different. It was, however, an enjoyable listen for a long car trip.
