Margaret Atwood’s writing was as strong as always, but the book just wasn’t necessary.
I was leery going into it because unplanned sequels, prequels, extended duologies to trilogies doesn’t work majority of the time. The only time it can work is if the world is extremely expansive. This was not the case with this one and it weakened the first book a lot. It didn’t bring anything new to the table, ruined what was good about the handmaid’s tale and did what many other dystopians have already done.
The ending was also really not good.
Read the handmaid’s tale and skip this one. Writers should stop being forced to publish additional books

I loved seeing this story pick up from both the book and the television series. The writing forces you to come to consider what it would be like to live in a world where women didn’t have choice or control over their own bodies. I had to take off a star because some of the dialogue from the main character was cringeworthy and hard to believe.

Although it's well written like "Handmaid's Tale", the story is much more uninteresting in relation.
