Such an interesting and thought provoking book about working and living in America, especially as an immigrant and a woman. Not so much a dystopia as a short step away from reality, if a program like this was developed in the next 10 years I would not be surprised at all.

Oof. I kept pausing this to avoid a DNF so it took me a while to finish - 9 actual months! (pregnancy pun not intended but welcome all the same).

Briefly, The Farm is set in a facility called Golden Oaks where women are intensely monitored and looked after, not to mention extremely well paid, while they serve as surrogates for wealthy clients.

Motherhood, class and race are the main themes and this novel had the potential to be a total banger. A few chapters kept me completely glued to the screen but now I’m mostly left feeling disappointed. Two sad little stars from me.

All the spelling mistakes in the e-book also drove me nuts and are probably partly to blame for my experience.

jane really started to annoy me sorry and i feel like a lot of good topics were brought up but not fully explored? like the exploitation of racial minorities was so apparent but idk i feel like besides reagan bringing it up, it’s not super discussed to the point where the reader knows what the book wants us to think

I really enjoyed this one. It's one of those SciFi type books where everything seems great at first, but gets progressively sinister. I can totally see this happening in real life, if it hasn't already!
