This book was like if you’d mashed an episode of Criminal Minds, NCIS, and Law & Order: SVU all into one.

There was drama, there was a psychotic serial killer with a hell of a backstory, there was a haunted detective, and there was even a character vaguely reminiscent of Dexter.

If you like crime or crime shows, you’ll really enjoy this book. It wasn’t the least bit predictable, which was refreshing, and while it may not have been totally realistic it was close enough to be a great read.

4.5 / 5 - Very good read !!
The story is gripping, I found myself totally immersed in this thriller, on the lookout for each revelation trying to discover who is the culprit. I didn't get attached to the protagonists, who I found a little too caricatural from time to time for my taste, but that didn't affect my reading. I was looking forward to the end of this story and I must admit that I was not disappointed by the outcome, which I found quite surprising.

Most enjoyable thriller I’ve read in a while, does a great job of building suspense and tension. Especially after the halfway point there was no dull spots

Thulin and Hess are interesting flawed main characters that perfectly add to the story without overshadowing the main thriller aspect. The overall plot twist was also one that I did not see coming

I think my main gripes are 1) the murder motive 2) the switching POVs 3) slightly awkward wording due to it being a translation

Overall cool and am interested in checking out the Netflix adaptation

Despite the length I was glued to the story. There were times when it got a bit confusing on who was talking because of the fast-paced back and forth but given that the author is mostly a script writer, it made sense why it happened. Could it have been shorter? Yes but it holds your attention throughout which made it okay in my book. I liked the different twists it kept throwing at you and the characters. I could see the characters turned into a series. Sure it's been done before and the dynamic is definitely not new but I'd still read it.
