The writing was a little bit juvenile and lacked emotions. I don't know, I didn't care for the couple. After it was revealed that the problem was her kidneys and she was just putting off the tests because she's afraid, nothing interesting happened. It showed Dan being there for Lauren as she battled her illness but because it lacked emotion... It just felt plain.

Dr. Dan stole my heart with each piece he found...

It's easy to enjoy the "sexy" that K Webster brings but Dr. Dan is a total human interest story too. Swooning at the heart of gold this man has and his ever expanding...family is 100% easy. The hard part is when it says "The End."

"Sometimes the best medicine isn’t anything that can be prescribed. But love can be a healer. I should know. I’m a doctor."

I have read some of Ms. Webster's books but it was mostly through those co-written with Ms. Dukey. So, I'd say this is my first ever read of her solo work. I know from her previous books that she loves writing taboo romances and even have some of it on my TBR but didn't have the chance to read until Dr. Dan. From what I've understood was that Dr. Daniel appeared on previous books but as someone who didn't read it yet, this can be read as stand alone.

Dr. Dan is the newest contemporary, taboo, age-gap romance from the author. I must confess that I was a little bit surprised by the huge age difference between the main characters. I was thinking Lauren at least 20ish, but she is 18 years old to Dr. Dan's 45. But it didn't matter as I've read books with almost same age gap and Lauren's attitude proved to be mature for her age.

The story follows when Lauren had to go to ER after she felt ill at a party that she attended. She had her suspicion of what was wrong with her but chose not to go to a hospital for a proper check up and involve her family. There she was treated by Dr. Dan, who was instantly intrigued by Lauren's evasiveness to undergo some tests. When she was again rushed to the hospital, he couldn't help but be concerned while also enchanted by Lauren's sassy, bright attitude even when hurting.

Dr. Dan is a dedicated, caring and responsible father and that extends to his patients. Still, after all these years, he hasn't found the right woman to settle down with. Lauren is a strong young woman who tried to have a positive vibe given her illness. In this situation, you could say that they are a perfect match. You couldn't deny the attraction that they had regardless of the age difference. Their chemistry bleeds off the pages of the book. Sure we have the sexy times, but aside from that, this book has a lot of heart and full of love. Overall, another great read from the author. Absolutely loved it!

I’ve been wanting to read Dan and Lauren’s book ever since I read Red Hot Winter in March and I was beyond excited when I saw that it was written and done! I feel like I’ve spent all of this month waiting until I would finally have the chance to read it and I’m not saying that because of that, I was hardly able to pick up any other books in the meantime, but I’m also not saying that either (it was totally Dr. Dan’s fault *wink wink*). As soon as I saw it on my kindle, I screamed and opened it as soon as I got the chance, but I actually didn’t dive in right away because there was a note suggesting that you might want to read Enzo and Red Hot Winter before, so I did decide to read Enzo first — I loved it, by the way — and then I started in on Dr. Dan!

Dr. Dan did start off a little slow for me, I wasn’t completely convinced about Dan and Lauren and their relationship, plus Lauren was a little bit of an exercise in frustration for awhile there, but the more I read, the better this book got. It was more than I hoped for and gave me all the emotions — I just loved it so, so much!

Of all the books in this universe of this town, Dr. Dan actually disappointed me.
I didn't get into it as well as I did the other ones, and I found it kind of...boring, to be honest. :(

I really am looking forward to more books in this universe though!!

TROPES:
- age gap
- doctor/patient
- (supposed to be) taboo/ forbidden romance
- girl has serious illness
- bratty FMC

This. Was. Not. Taboo. Not because of the dynamic but because EVERYONE ACCEPTS THEIR RELATIONSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND THEY BARELY EVEN TRY TO HIDE IT!!!
There was no build of angst or any forbidden feeling to it at all.

That being said, the sub-plot focusing on the girl's illness was really good and emotional. But general plot was rushed.

Overall, an alright read, but I was left disappointed in all honesty.
