A really lovely story of family and love and not a lot, really (and yet also, a life), but it's very beautifully done. I became quite attached to the narrator/mother and her lovely family, and there are some good subtle "reveals" along the way that keep the story moving. A really nice read.

What a sweet, quiet, lovely little book. I am always so skeptical of pandemic-era stories, but this one captured both the unease and the unexpected togetherness that COVID introduced for so many families. I loved the aspect of reflection as Lara told stories of her past to her three grown daughters. The characters in this book were very well developed, both past and present, and the dynamics were realistically built. This story brought in a lot of big questions and feelings about life, love, family, goals, and more, and I thought it tackled them pretty well.
