When I saw the writing style, I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. It was very compelling and bittersweet. One of those books that you think about constantly when you’re not reading it.

This is a passionate and thoughtful book. The story is highly evocative--you will moan, gasp, cry, or drop your jaw at LEAST twice during this read.

The story is layered and thought-provoking. If you leave this book thinking it's just a story of a couple of people on a trip, you are sorely missing out. This is a story about morality, heridity, destiny, good v evil, God, hell, family, humanity and more. This story bottles up so much in such a concentrated space it's worth 2 or 3 reads.

If you don't like this book, come find me. We'll talk. You'll see.

This is a book that the style tells the story as much as the words. A post-apocalyptic story of a father and son and their travel on "The Road". The main theme of the story is the fight for survival while all is hopeless. The will to live but the desire to never have been born. Protecting the ones you love only for them to still be in a hopeless situation. Wandering somewhere but nowhere.

The writing style, descriptions, sentence structure and conversations push the question "What really matters?" "What is important?"

I also had problems with the book. Namely some plot holes in my understanding and
Spoileran unbelievable, possible "happy" ending.

I plan to read more McCarthy.

Wow, this was quite the journey through an unknown world… a world full of death, uncertainty and selfish behavior, but also one of innocence, imagination, and endless curiosity.

This reads like a stream of consciousness, and I don’t know many books that have read like this. It conveys unclear details of events, large spaces of time skipped over, but always focusing and repeating the proximity to the illustrious “road”, always on the move, everything is an afterthought while the road takes priority for our companions.

Heartbreaking, heartwarming, and I hope I can find more like this… <3
