This is a humorous set of essays about life and how to live it. They appear to be drawn from the author's personal experience, though it's hard to tell how much was embellished for the sake of humor. Still, whether partly or entirely true, they have good morals and you can tell they come from a place of love.

Not my favorite Backman, nor one I find particularly memorable. Maybe because I don't think I'll ever be having any kids of my own.

I liked the perspective from a person with mental health issues pondering on the decision of having children and how he goes about that after said children are born. I also liked how he basically says that he likes his own kids, not everyone else's;  funny and valid.

Still I love his writing so much, I'd read his grocery list.

I laughed out loud at times. It wasn’t patronizing and even as a mom I cool enjoy reading a fathers perspective.

I'd be curious to learn Swedish just to be able to tease out what parts of Backman's brilliance is his own vs. his translators'.

Aw man, Fredrik might be one of my new fave authors. The way he writes about life and the human condition is just… *chef’s kiss*
