This just wasn’t for me. I didn’t find this plot enjoyable nor funny, since this is supposed to be a romantic comedy. I bought this book because of the hype around it and kinda of cheated. I definitely feel like it blue-balled me in the steam aspect. DEFINITELY!!!! Otherwise I didn’t think the characters had chemistry.  I just thought that they seem to get along together and that led to a relationship. There was no sizzling of tension or crackling of anything. It is felt like a walk in a park with no hardship or challenges in their relationship.

The first person narration felt a bit clunky at first and took me a bit to get used to, having read mostly third person for a while, but once I got the groove and cadence for the characters it felt completely normal. I loved the banter between all the characters--Mateo and Evie, Mateo and Alpha, Evie and her sisters. It all flowed very naturally. I love knowing that this is likely to be at least a 6 book series, with there being 6 Savoie sisters. More time to relish in the exciting (and sexy) adventures of these fantastic witches!

I've always wanted to visit NOLA, and this just makes me want to go even more! While the Louisiana setting is important and relevant to the story, it didn't play as much of a role as I had expected it to, though I'm sure that will continue to develop and become a deeper part of the story as we explore this family and their role in NOLA supernatural society in the subsequent books. But I love books set in real cities, and makes me want to go check out the landmarks the author mentions in the book! It's like a love letter to the city!

And Super huge props to Juliette Cross for an amazing repertoire of nerd/geek shout outs! I loved Evie's unashamed love of comics and Star Wars and that no one (except Derek, the twat waffle) made fun of her about it. They loved and celebrated it about her!! And the Webtoons love!! Being a HUGE fan of several Webtoons series, I LOVED it!! I Would also 100% read Witches in the City as a webtoon. What deity do we need to petition to make this happen???

While romantically predictable (not a complaint, just part of the genre!), I did have fun trying to guess who cursed Mateo as the book progressed.
I totally thought it could have been Missy, some weird unrequited infatuation, and that maybe she'd paid someone to curse him. But once we met Sandra at the coffee shop, my suspicions moved over to her pretty quickly. She seemed "too good to be true" and Evie's jealousy of her was a BIG red flag for me. But her motives were a bit of a surprise for me!

And the sex scenes were STEAMY! Yes please, sign me up! The banter between Mateo and Alpha was always delightfully dirty, with Alpha just wanting to take Evie at any moment, but the haunted house scene when he took over. *Fans self* I'm not one for rough play, but friends, that scene did things to me. And the closet scene at the Cauldron, I was cheering for top of the cooler sex as much as Evie. But the build up to their date night together at Mateo's place was such a satisfying one!! Also Mateo's most epic of Star Wars dates was truly amazing. I love how he totally dove in with her geek stuff and latched on like "This is fun!"

this book is ok. It is a bit simple and kind of short. 3/5 spice lots of tensions and a few good scenes nothing to intense. I highly recommend the audiobook. the guy's voice is great! I both read and listened.
